BAU 17, ONDE, WAVES

Ridondanze is inspired by the Marshall Islands’ traditional cartographies, objects made to navigate through the Pacific. Also known as stick charts, these maps were built out of bamboo stems: the intersections of two bamboos mean the wave changes direction and breaks on the islands. Ridondanze merges digital and linocut prints: a digital collage of the ancient stick charts is printed on one side of the paper, while on the other we find a QR code manually carved and printed in lino.

BAU is a « Contemporary Culture Container » project, reuniting international artworks in a pre-determined format and theme. BAU17’s title is ONDE, WAVES, and it consists of a 29.7cmx29.7cm box.
